PT Ranch and its quest to help heal the planet
PT Ranch, a 500-acre farm, is steeped in the western tradition of cattle ranching, dating back to 1846 when Teodosio Yorba was granted the surrounding 100,000 acre Arroyo Seco Ranch by the Mexican Government.
The ranch has been family owned and operation since 1952, when Peter Pope purchased the ranch while he was attending college. Peter had ideas of raising bulls and running his own cattle opperation but ranching got the best of him and he decided to lease the ranch to his father George Pope. He enjoyed spending his time flying, duck hunting and walking.
In 2017, Emily and her family moved to Amador County and began converting the ranch to regenerative practices, focusing on ecological stewardship and sustainable farming. On the ranch you can find pastured chicken, lamb, pork, sheep and seasonal turkey, a market garden abundant with seasonal vegetables, fruits, and flowers and olive groves.
